Our Top Moments of 2017 - Part III

We absolutely love being able to get out and do things as a family and we were lucky enough to go to the Monster Jam last spring.  Jackson started to get into monster trucks early in the year and when we heard that Grave Digger and his driver would be in town, we had to go and see them.  Both of the kiddos had a great time and keep asking if we can go back again.  It's safe to say that we will see our monster truck friends again in 2018.

In September of every year it seems Jon McLaughlin is playing somewhere in the midwest.  Since he is my favorite musical performer of all time, Matt and I try to make it an annual date to go and see him.  This year, he played in Peoria and we somehow managed to score front row seats at a general admission venue.  Thank you for the awesome night, John!! We will see you sometime this year!
Super shout out to Grandma and Grandpa B for watching Jax so that we can catch these amazing concerts - we greatly appreciate you both!!

Every year, Matt and Abby have gone to a daddy/daughter dance - the Sugar Plumb ball.
This year, Matt and his buddies and their little girls all went together and were able to share a table.
They are all looking forward to next year!

For the first time ever, the Rock Island Park and Recreation Department put on a Mommy/ Son Superhero Ball.  Jax and I dressed up as Batman and Robin and spent our evening playing games, partaking in superhero contests and building cities with giant blocks.  My friend Sara and her son Dawson came along and we kept finding this one boy (who no one knew) in our photos.  We would kindly ask him to let us take a photo of just the four of us and he would say "no - photobomb!!"  It was so funny - so I have to put a photo with him in it so that we can remember it always.

Next up? We were lucky enough to have some of our really good friends that don't live here come into town for some quality bonding time in 2017.
First up was our friend Justin from San Antonio.  Jackson was so excited for "Mr. Justin's arrival that he made a huge poster with his face cut out to welcome him. Too cute!

We got to meet up with Jen for friend reunion tour 2017 and we went for a hike in Starved Rock State Park.  The only good thing about that day was being together and finding a fudge shop that has the most amazing fudge ever... it was like 28 degrees and spitting rain/sleet on us during our rain.  Thank goodness Jen is a die hard otherwise I think we would have caved and stayed indoors!

While he was in town, Justin got to spend some quality time with the Kenster fishing (and yes, the weather was terrible for their outing too, but it didn't stop them from staying out all day long)!!

We had tons of fun and shared lots of laughs and were sad to see him go.
Luckily, we're planning a trip to San Antonio this spring to see Mr. Justin and his awesome family!!

Next up for friend visits is my oldest and dearest friend, Misty.  Misty and I grew up down the street from each other, our families went to the same church, our moms were friends and we've basically known each other since birth.  I planned her wedding years ago and now we both have babes the same age.  Jax and Fulton are so cute to watch it's so awesome to see our boys play together at the same age that we used to.  LOVE this entire family and can't wait to see them again.  :)

Of course the bestie is going to make the list of friend visits -
We got to see Jen a few times this year and can't wait to see her again on Monday!!
We had a blast when she came into town for my birthday and we had girl's day out - shopping, eating and being crazy together.
Love you, bestie!!

Julie is one of my closest friends from college.  She lives in Chicago with her family and we try to get together at least once a year.  This year, we went garage sailing and scored some hilarious matching St Patricks Day shirts!  This girl makes me laugh harder than anyone I think that I've ever met.  Love you, Jules!!

Sara and her son Dawson met up with us for the Moline High School homecoming parade.  Sara and I went to kindergarten together and have been friends ever since.  Love this girl!!

The holidays brought Taylor home from Colorado and although our time together was short, it was so good to see her and catch up.  Love you, Tay!!
