We could not be more anxiously awaiting the arrival of spring. Sure, Jackson and Abby have plenty of things to keep them busy inside, but we can't wait until the warmer days of spring get here so we can enjoy days at the park, walks after dinner and sitting out on the deck. Highs this week are in the 40's and 50's so hopefully we see the light at the end of this very cold and snowy tunnel.
We have been so focused on getting our 10 second video every day that we haven't taken as many photos as we used to, which leads to slower blog posting. Our video project is complete through March 9th - Hooray! We vowed to work on the editing of it weekly so that at the end of the year we wouldn't be discouraged to go through a ton of clips. Last year, while we took thousands of photos, we didn't get as much video. This year is exactly the opposite. I absolutely love uploading our weeks worth of video every Sunday and going through to see which ones we want to use. I think this may be the first new years resolution that we will see all the way through to
December 31st.
Jax has been enjoying coloring and finger painting, although we have to be on high alert. His first coloring experience resulted in black and blue crayon on the ottoman and chair. Before I knew it, he was running with two crayons in his hands and shabam - the damage was done. The stains came off easily, but we learned that we have to be 100% diligent on watching him during crafty times.
Bathtime finger painting was exciting for about two minutes, but splashing quickly became more fun. Please note that he is still obsessed with baby spoons. He is holding one in the last bath picture and painting with his other hand. Silly boy.
Abby just had kindergarten round up and is pumped to be starting real, full day school in the fall. The only downside of the day was that after roundup was complete, she thought that she was done with preschool and would be starting kindergarten immediately. We had to explain that preschool continues until June and that "real school" starts in August.
She has started spelling and writing words and loves reading books.
Since Grandma and Grandpa were out of town on Grandma's birthday, they came over to our house before they left, so that we could give Grandma her birthday gifts. Lookin' good, Grandma!
When any of the grandparents come over, Jackson instantly starts running around, showing them all of his toys-
it's pretty hilarious. It looks like he might be giving Grandpa Bishop a dental exam here.
Grandpa Becker gave Jax one of his last bottles (hopefully)... We have been transitioning him off of the bottle and onto the cup, which has been quite the experience. We started warming up the milk in the cup to make the transition easier, which has helped. He only gets a bottle before bed now, and drinks a cup of milk at breakfast and lunch. We are hoping that before we go to Florida in April that we will be able to pack up all of the bottles for good. Speaking of Florida, we can't wait to get out of the midwest to hit up the beaches of Clearwater and then spend a few days with Grandma Betty, our former neighbor who lives near Tampa.
Last Saturday, a friend of mine had a going away party, which made way for my first real day out since Jackson was born. Matt made me promise not to call and or text to check on things, which was difficult, but I held up my end of the deal. It was wonderful to be able to spend time with my friends without the distraction of taking care of Jax at the same time, although, I must say, people without babies don't really enjoy talking about weening from the bottle and diaper rash.
I had a great time with my pals and we laughed until our sides hurt, but I was excited to get home to see my sweet sleeping baby.

This one is my favorite because he is obsessed with stuffed animals, namely bunnies. He carries them around everywhere and won't go to sleep unless he has at least one of them.
Maybe he's just preparing for Easter...
