Our Anniversary

Matt & I were lucky enough to spend our 1st Anniversary in Colorado, which came with tons of advantages -

the scenery, exciting things to do, new places to eat and the fact that

my sister volunteered to babysit so we could have a child free night. (Thank you, Jana!!)

 

We decided to go downtown Denver to do a little eating and shopping.  We were then driving around, scouting a location so that we could get a good picture of us with the mountains in the background... or so I thought.

 Instead, Matt was looking for a spot for us to release our Chinese wish lanterns that he had secretly brought along, knowing that I had always wanted to do one of these.

We hiked up a trail, which seemed like forever, only to find out that we couldn't access the point we wanted to get to. We saw a fence and thought, no big deal, we'll just climb it -

until we read the sign that said  "shooting range"  and then we decided to pass.

We did find the perfect spot, just as it was getting dark, and after a semi-difficult climb (hey, I was wearing sandals with a heel) we lit the bottom, which is far more difficult than you would imagine, and released it. 

All in all, it was a perfect night. 

 

We even scored some pretty touristy shirts for our vacation tradition.

If you have ever gone on a trip with us, you know that the one thing we are sure to do is get the same shirt and take pictures in public places.  My dad has had to do this with us in California and Mom and Dad Bishop had to do this on a crowded beach in Hawaii. 

We then keep the shirts and pictures as memories to treasure. 

Maybe one day I'll get ambitious and try to make them into a quilt.
