We have been planning this vaca for a while now, as my dad has wanted to fish the Redington Long Pier since we visited for one day the last time we were in Florida, circa 2014.
We rented a condo that is next door to the pier so that we could enjoy some beach/sand/pool time while he could spend all of the time he wanted fishing (they opened at 5am and closed at 1am).
We were cautious about Jax on an airplane, since the last time he was on one, he could barely walk and wasn't talking. He was an absolute all star, never straying from smiles and amazement that he was on an airplane. He loved the in flight magazine and asked me to read it to him the entire way there and back (luckily we had a direct flight from Moline to Clearwater).
The first day we were there was windy, rainy and cold, but since we had a weather delay, we didn't make it to the condo until dinner time, so it all worked out fine. The next seven days were amazing weather - high 70s, low 80s and no humidity - unseasonably cold for Florida at this time of year or so everyone was telling us, but we thought it was absolutely perfect. We did some fishing, some shopping, some good eating and of course we spent tons of time at the beach -

We took a ferry ride to Shell Key one morning and had the best time on the private beach area shell hunting. We found a couple of sand dollars and tons of amazing shells that Jax is going to put into his new sandbox (aka the portable beach)
This photo makes me laugh out loud. Nothing says vacation like a "just chillin" pose with ocean water soaked shorts, a box of crackers and a cup of juice.
Some more Mother's Day photos, evening time. I love this silhouette photo that was taken on Clearwater beach. It was actually one of those sunsets where the sky flashes green for two seconds after the sun sets - apparently it's kind of a special thing, which made the night that much more memorable.
The last day we were there, we set up the tripod and crossed our fingers. We got a few good shots and preserved some amazing memories.
