Master Bedroom Makeover

I know it has been waaaaay too long since our last blog post, but we have been one busy household
(more to come on that in other posts, I promise).

I have been so excited for our master to be finished and now that it is (minus the bathroom) I can finally post some photos.  This room was one of the main reasons that we wanted to put an offer in on this house and get ours listed.  Since we both work from home (my office is in the family room and the studio is upstairs and Matt's office is on the first level) we thought it would be super important to have a space that we could basically consider our retreat away from everything work related.  We had some different plans on how to lay everything in this room when we first closed on the house, but that changed over time.  We were without furniture for the first couple of weeks waiting on the new stuff to be delivered, so we were sleeping on a mattress on the floor and living out of boxes and bags (something I would never recommend to anyone - it was awful).  After our furniture was set, we accidentally ran into a matching desk at Pier One Imports and the space we were unsure how to use became a place for my laptop where we can take calls if necessary.  I absolutely love the way that everything turned out & this house is finally starting to feel like our forever home.  Soon we will share the before/afters on the dining room and outside of the house (think shutters and new landscaping).

Okay, onto the photos:
The entry hallway to the bedroom
Matt's closet is on the left and mine is the mirror you see on the right.
The door that you see at the very left is a door that leads to the guest room (that was built to be a nursery).  There is another door in the main hallway that leads the guest room as well.
Yes, it's kind of confusing.
We painted all of the doors and trim, installed new hardware and had the room painted a neutral gray (it was white and beige).

  1. Karen, this is incredible!!! What a great bedroom before, but the after pictures are stunning! It's amazing what a little white woodwork can do! The decor and style of the room is so elegant. I'm pretty sure I'd never leave if this was bedroom. P.S. Come decorate my house??

  2. Thanks for the kind words, Sarah! The white woodwork is so much worth the time and hassle of redoing it. It took quite a bit of time, but we love it. Any time you want me to help decorate, just ask! 😀
